The ¡®China Software Piracy Rate Survey 2007' has been formally released in Beijing.

 

According to the survey which was conducted by China Internet Lab, the piracy rate (based on market value) of the software industry of China in 2007 declined to 20% from the previous year's 24%, and the piracy rate for paid computer software dropped from 63%.

 

Of the paid computer software, the piracy rate for unit users decreased from 39% to 35%, and the rate for individual users from 78% to 69%.

 

The survey shows with the promotion of legitimate software among government departments and enterprises, particularly the compulsory installation of operating systems, the piracy for operating systems was constrained and the piracy rate declined from 68% to 39%.
